auswall has co-developed a cross-device user interface for the 6000 series of Miele which was rewarded with design and ergonomic prizes. Consistent operating steps allow users easily getting along when switching from one device to another. Furthermore, we realized a characteristic tactile feedback for rotary controls and push buttons focusing a Miele-specific haptic feeling during operation.
For testing the concepts usability test were defined and suitable prototypes were built including hardware and programming.
An ergonomic guideline was created by us to evaluate the ease of use of domestic appliances: on the one hand the guide shows design recommendations during the development process on the other hand criteria for an objective benchmark of new concepts or already existing devices are provided.
Used across departments the “Ergo Index” was the principle for understanding and applying user centered design.
